Motorcycle Touring in the
Kingdom
of Fife
Fife, famous to many
motorcyclists for
Knockhill Race Circuit, and famous to the rest of the general
public for St Andrews and Golf.
Yet, for the touring motorcyclist it is also home to an abundant
Scottish History which is available for open viewing from your favourite
machine! With Several Castles dating from the 12th Century,
many which are open to the public and maintained by the National Trust,
this is an ideal opportunity to get in some riding with the excuse of a
history lesson thrown in. Some of the castles listed below are home to
museums and historical information whilst others are ruins, in which you
may walk the grounds should you be in need of a break.
Why not start or stop
your tour at Knockhill and then wind your way across the history Fife
has to offer.
Places to visit on a
coastal theme include the fishing villages at Crail, Elie, and
Anstruther, and of course you should not miss out on the opportunity to
be swept back into the 17th Century with a visit to Culross.
If you need a day off
from the riding, there are plenty of things to do and see depending on
your base. Below we have listed a few entertainment and leisure ideas
for those non-biking days!
